Trenport Limited are strategic land developers and held the former quarry site at Woudham. Our job was to produce a masterplan for about 1250 houses.
The site was on three levels joining the river Medway near Rochester but crossed by a double line of high voltage pylons.
Our scheme involved three design responses – the riverside development, the middle plateau and what we called ‘the Citadel’.
The idea was that, on entering the village, crossing the bridge over the Medway, one’s eye would be drawn to the Citadel and that the visual impact of the pylons would be lessened.
This project is now in progress and the success of the scheme can be viewed in the flesh!
